adventureactivities

We offer the widest range of activities available, with the most cost effective options. We can cater for all ages, from six to 60 years old (or over!). Here's a taste of the full range of adventures and spectacular sites that BMAC has to offer.

rock climbingThe indoor rock wall will help your group develop their climbing techniques and become efficient belayers (climber's anchor person and safety line), while exhilarating outdoor climbs range from beginner-level to verticals that go beyond limits.
cavingGo underground in the Okupata limestone caves, with its inner cave stream, glow-worm displays and optional tight squeezes.
gorgingRiver erosion has carved out amazing chasms through high, moss-covered rock walls. It may involve swimming and jumping, and promises spectacular scenery.
high ropesThis course includes our indoor rock climbing wall, the giant's ladder, the vertical play pen, the towering leap of faith, and high ropes elements. This will challenge your group's courage, commitment and teamwork.
raftingTake in the scenery down a more leisurely grade two, or ride the roar of rushing white water in a higher energy grade three. We use paddle rafts (8, 6, and 2 person rafts) so everyone can participate and share the thrill of negotiating their raft downstream.
mountaineeringWith mountains only 30 minutes away from where you are sleeping at BMAC, we can offer diverse challenges traversing Tongariro, Ngauruhoe, and Ruapehu. You'll be rewarded with awe-inspiring views at the top of the world, and even have the option of an overnight stay in a snow cave (in winter).
abseilingKarabiner, figure eight, static rope. These are all terms your group will become familiar with during their abseiling experience. After a short hike to the top of one of our numerous abseils, our experienced staff will secure the lines and equip you with the necessary gear and info to complete your descent in safety and style.
canadian canoeCanadian canoeing can be as strenuous or as relaxing as you choose. You may wish to carve through an undulating river surrounded by cliffs, or meander across a placid lake with mountains showing-off nearby.
kayakYour team will learn the skills to manoeuvre their own craft, on still or moving water. We can provide a first taste for those who are new to this fantastic sport, or a multi-day NZQA-qualified course for those looking to build on their skills.

I really, really enjoyed our stay at BMAC and the activities were great. I learned about working as a team and how to speak up and suggest ideas. I also learnt that when things appear difficult, just give them a go and you will be amazed what you can achieve.
